First Trip this year!

We celebrated Sam’s 1st birthday in McDonald’s. This cute little girl is my friend’s niece. She’s really cute and so pretty, right?

Isn't she lovely? :)

Right after that, we just decided to go on a road trip to Tagaytay!

We went straight home after the celebration. I brought some clothes and jacket with me. Then, while we were on our way to Tagaytay, they’ve decided to stay there until tomorrow! Lots of surprises, huh?

We arrived in Tagaytay in the evening. It was reaaaaallyyy cold. January hasn’t been this cold! We were trying our best (wearing our shorts and skirts) to walk against the strong winds.Β The coldest temperature recorded in Manila was I think about 15-16 degree Celcius! I felt like I was in Korea again, that Autumn feels.

We had our dinner at RSM Lutong Bahay, a restaurant with an overlooking view of Taal Volcano. Β Everywhere you look, the restaurant is nicely decorated. Β The combination of the plants and the wood furniture of the lounge, sofa, dining table and chairs gives a natural ambiance. It is very s pacious and can accommodate around 150 people. It has second floor but we weren’t able to explore it.

RSM serves delicious and affordable Filipino cuisine. One order ranges about 200-400 pesos and can serve for 3-4 people. Β We ordered just enough for the six of us and our bill reached at least 1k. Β Plus, they gave us free Bulalo soup! Since we ate here for dinner, we can’t really see the taal volcano. So, if you want to appreciate the view, I suggest that you visit during lunch time.

We ate inside the bahay kubo.

After having our tummies full, we proceeded to our next stop -Ate Julie’s house. We stayed there for the night, had some drinks and continued with our non-stop stories.

Get to bond with our new friends while enjoying our drinks and the cold weather!

Our day 2 / next adventure will be posted soon!

Captured in a box!

You might not know, I was busy with school and other activities, so I wasn’t really able to update my blog.

So, here’s the story. I was looking for a place to stay with less people and a Wi-Fi, and there I saw a cute little store in Barrington place.

Image

The place is called The Cake Box Dessert Cafe. The store is located at the 2F of Barrington Place along Congressional Avenue. It is pretty in pink, and displays good-looking cakes you wouldn’t want to eat because they’re too pretty to eat. Those pretty displays caught my attention that’s why I decided to stay there. Definitely a must try because the slice of cake we ordered was delicious. I prefer the cake than the cupcakes because they’re kind of too sweet for me. We stayed there for about 4 hours, as I remember. I was doing my thesis and at the same time catching upΒ with my high school friends. The connection (Wi-Fi) was pretty fast, just got some problem connecting at first. They turned off the Wi-Fi around 10pm, probably because we were the only ones left there and it was near closing time.

These photos were taken during my first and 2nd visits in the cafe. Because there are few people who visit there, and usually they have takeaways, I feel more comfortable to do my own stuff. I just want to have a different ambiance so I decided not to do my homework at home.

Also, what I really like here is the interior design. The store may be small but feels spacious enough. The seats are comfy but the table is too high for the couch, or because I’m petite. Haha! Anyway, my 2nd visit was good. We ordered pasta and a slice of cake, and used their Wi-Fi as well. Β We had a great time staying in the cafe. Will surely visit here again with my friends.

Rainy Day **

On a rainy day, KG and I decided to eat ice cream at the famous Icecreamist store. Sadly, when we arrived, there’s a long cue waiting already so we just ate at the store next to it, the “Fancy Crepes”.

It’s a small store where it can accommodate only up to 8 people (sitting comfortably). The ambiance is quite cozy and refreshing. We ordered mango cheesecake and nuts over nutella. Although the food presentation isn’t as nice as i expected, it’s cute enough to pass with some scribbles on it (smiley and our names). We were the only ones there so we had a long time to chat and read magazines, especially the book my friend Aimee gave me, and took many pictures. HAHA πŸ™‚

Fancy Crepes is located near Mini Stop Maginhawa Street Quezon City. πŸ™‚ It’s a nice place if you want to just chill and chat with a friend.:)

Language in Real Life

I was reading a random book in the university library, I don’t remember the name of the book, but I remember clearly what’s written on it.

“Being in another country and among native speakers gives you the need to communicate. Gradually, you will start to catch new words and expressions, start to pronounce the language the way you hear it.”

I think that this is mostly true for us language learners. If we are living in the country where they speak the language, it’s natural for us, to be able to speak to them in the the language they understand. It’s much more easier for us to be able to communicate, speak and write the language, because we have the need to do so. And we can also practice with them being the native speakers themselves.

Whenever I hang out with my Korean friends, I always listen to them, how they say things, how they pronounce words, and adapt that kind of speaking behavior. What my friends usually tell me, or text me, or even message me on facebook, i also started to use those words i hear/see in the same way how they used it. That’s pretty how much I learned to speak, write and understand Korean in just 3 months. I’ve got great friends whom i can talk to anytime. πŸ™‚

Starting to fall….

It rained today in Seoul, the last rain of the summer season and it’s now officially fall.:) It’s getting colder by day and night. The leaves are starting to turn into yellow. πŸ™‚

This is the road I always pass by going to my class πŸ™‚ So, along the university there are many (μ€ν–‰λ‚˜λ¬΄) eunhaeng namu :)) λ‚ λ§ˆλ‹€ κ±Έμ–΄μ„œ ꡐ싀에 κ°€μš”. 기뢄이 μ’‹μ•„μš” ^^

The four seasons are vivid. You know when it’s spring, summer, fall, or winter. And the rain is like the signal that another season will begin πŸ™‚ That’s the magic of nature.:)

Cool September ^^

Once September arrives, the temperature finally starts to drop.:) It’s still hot in the afternoon but it doesn’t feel sticky anymore.:) It’s getting colder. I can walk in the evening without sweating which I think it would be more difficult for me to exercise. Because, it’ll be harder to produce sweat. Haha. πŸ˜› It’s the start of “ber” months…..mabilis ang panahon…… I don’t want to think that I have less than 4 months to stay here in Korea.

λ‚©μž‘ν•œμŠ¬λ¦¬νΌ <3

This is my favorite coffee shop here in Korea πŸ™‚ The ambiance in this shop is really different compared to the other coffee shops. I can stay here for hours if I want to. If this shop is only nearer that I won’t have to take a bus to go here, I would probably be here often. Β :))

It’s quite difficult to see this shop in Gaeksa (downtown) because it’s not located in the main streets. From Zara, you have to go straight that will lead you to Holly’s coffee, rice story, church and then at the edge of the street, this coffee shop is located.

this is the name of the shop “nap-jak-han-slipper”

Actually, the first time I came here was during the Jeonju International Film Festival. I came with my friends from Hotel Dept. Because, a lot of our classmates in Hotel management volunteered in this shop. So during that time, a lot of visitors of JIFF were here because it has partnership with JIFF πŸ˜‰ After a month, we visited this place again and then I started to love this place. ❀ Here’s a link to my previous blog about JIFFΒ πŸ™‚

Image

ImageWhenever we order any coffee, our friend gives us “service” . That’s how koreans call it when they give out freebies. πŸ™‚ So, he always gives us free brownies, macaroons, bread, chocolates and cupcake. πŸ™‚

Image

This one is my favorite. He made it for us πŸ™‚ He’s really nice and generous. πŸ™‚Β Image

What I also love here is I can use their iPad. ;p The customers can actually read books and they have two iPads with WiFi of course. It’s very comfortable to stay here. Just like Starbucks — as “third place”. Β I think I found my fourth place in here. haha! πŸ˜› Though I don’t usually drink coffee, (i don’t drink soda as well), I love to drink water at all times, I just want to spend time here that’s why I go here. And I also love their coffee and how it was prepared. I actually would love to work here if I’m allowed to have part-time job.

So this is why I recommend this place to my friends. I bring them here with me and they would also love the ambiance and the service in this place. Our friend is also happy because we frequently visit his place.
